Like any fine tapestry, meeting God in the Bible requires that we string a number of different threads together and weave them into a beautiful pattern. In this message we will consider four threads that make the tapestry of devotion. A time to pray; a time to read; a time to write; a time to think.

Getting Guidance from God’s Word: Three Distinctions Necessary to Understand the Bible (05-05)

Today as we wrap up our short series, Getting Guidance from God's Word, Bible Teacher Woodrow Kroll reminds us that in order to understand God's Word correctly, we must make distinctions between three sets of things. They are:

1. the distinction between Israel and the Church;
2. the distinction between Law and Grace; and
3. the distinction between the believer's standing and the believer's state.

We'll see what each of these means and why these three distinctions are important in using God's Word as our guide in life.

Getting Guidance from God’s Word: How to Understand the Guidance of God’s Word (04-05)

Today we tackle how to understand the Bible. It's not an impossible task. Before we can understand the Bible, however, there must both be the prerequisite of regeneration and the presupposition of authority. Once that's the case, 3 things will help us in understanding:

1. find the right help;
2. find the right interpretation; and
3. find the right application.

We'll give examples of each.

In today's study we'll go one step further. If the best source for wisdom is God's Word, how are we to find the wisdom that seems to be buried there? The Bible is so big, so imposing, so difficult to understand. How will we find the wisdom that God has for us in His book. We'll see what the Bible says.

In our study we'll view the myriad of sources people use for their wisdom, and we'll answer the question, “Where is true wisdom to be found?”  Using Proverbs 1:1-6 as a guide, we'll find the source of wisdom in God's Word and find out why this source is the best source of all.

Getting Guidance from God’s Word: Finding the Daily Benefits from God’s Word (01-05)

Today we start a 5-day study with Bible Teacher Woodrow Kroll titled Getting Guidance from God's Word.

Using Psalm 119 as a guide to the daily benefits we find in God's Word, we'll see the following benefits:  blessing (vv. 1-2); counsel (v. 24); mercies (v. 41); comfort (v. 50); and understanding (v. 73).  We'll see why these benefits can only come from God and how we can tap into them.
